Annual Hunter’s Hope Foundation Fundraiser

The Hunter’s Hope Foundation was established in 1997 by Pro Football Hall of Fame member and former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, after their infant son, Hunter, was diagnosed with Krabbe Disease (Globoid-Cell Leukodystrophy). The Foundation is the Kelly’s lifelong commitment to increase public awareness of Krabbe Disease and other leukodystrophies, as well as to increase the likelihood of early detection and treatment. The Foundation’s goal is to fund research efforts to identify new treatments, therapies and a cure for Krabbe Disease. To date, the Foundation has awarded over $3.8 million to leukodystrophy and other neurological disease related research.

A letter from Jim and Jill Kelly
Before our son, Hunter, completed his earthly mission and went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2005, we decided to name our new Hunter’s Hope bear “Love Endures” We named this bear after a popular Bible verse found in 1 Corinthians 13:7, “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always endures.” How appropriate that our new bear symbolizes the kind of love Hunter taught all of us.
Love does endure forever. And, because love endures forever, we too can endure. Because of your love, dedication and generosity, Hunter’s Hope endures. Because of prayer and encouragement, hope endures. Because of God’s amazing grace and sufficiency, we endure.
We are so blessed to carry the baton for Hunter while we continue to run the race with perseverance. Our family is honored to represent countless families with terminally ill and handicapped children. We remain passionate about our mission and press on each day — so that through Hunter’s Hope we will bring hope to the hopeless.
Your support and attendance are vital to the success of the Hunter’s Hope Foundation’s 4th Annual Rochester Candlelight Ball on July 28, 2006 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center. Because you care, we are able to help save children’s lives.
Hunter’s humble and quiet resilience as well as his bravery and contagious joy will forever be etched in our memories. Because of God’s love, Hunter’s love and our love for him will endure forever.
